In addition to the use of e-learning technologies for delivery of selected aspects of training, an important feature of SMACS is the identification of how training can be enhanced using advanced training technologies such as desktop and full-scale virtual simulators, practical simulators such as communications equipment training, survival pools, ice tanks, lifeboat launch simulators and fire simulation props such as those already used by a number of the SMACS partners. Additional enhancements in training provision, and assessment of trainees, are possible through use of remote sensing technologies for monitoring of trainee performance. Emerging telemedicine technology for victim remote medical diagnosis and monitoring will also be evaluated in this WP.
