Arctic Search and Rescue

TheĀ Agreement on Cooperation in Aeronautical and Maritime Search and Rescue in the Arctic was signed in 2011 and is an international agreement involving all the members of the Arctic Council to coordinate international search and rescue coverage and response in the Arctic. SMACS has three Arctic search and rescue partners from Iceland, Norway and Sweden and, through the Greenlandic and Faroes Associated Partners, with Greenland and Faroes SAR also.
